What does DEE/Handoff do?

Once the DEE feature is enabled (by pressing the DEE button on your office phone), it allows you to have incoming office phone calls ring at both your office phone and your cell phone (and/or another campus extension) at the same time (i.e. the two phone numbers are “twinned”).
You can then pick up the call at whichever device you are physically closer to at that moment, and the call will stop ringing at the other device(s).
If needed, you can then seamlessly handoff (i.e. transfer) the call between the twinned devices (by pressing the Handoff button on your office phone). The handoff between devices can be done back and forth as many times as needed.
If DEE is enabled, and you don’t pick up an incoming call on either your office phone or cell phone, then the call will go to your office phone number’s voicemail.

Why use DEE/Handoff?

Scenario 1:
A call comes in on your office phone, and you answer it……just as you are about to leave your office (to go to a meeting, to go home, etc.). But you still want to keep talking to the person on the other line without having to hang up, and you don’t want to call them from your cell phone (or have to give out your cell phone number to that person). If DEE is enabled on your office phone line (and set up for your cell phone number), then you can seamlessly transfer the call from your office phone to your cell phone by pressing the handoff button.
Scenario 2:

You are expecting an important phone call on your office phone but you are not going to be in your office when the call comes in. If DEE is enabled on your office phone line (and set up for your cell phone number), then the call will ring on both your office phone and cell phone at the same time. Then you can simply pick up the call from your cell phone without having to be in your office.

NOTE:

The DEE feature is a toggle that can be turned on/off by just pressing the DEE button on your office phone (once it has been configured).
